Notes: This wine originates from Civitella d’Agliano, nestled in the Lazio region of Italy. The production area, known as Tuscia Viterbese, lies between the hills of the hinterland and the Tiber valley—a natural boundary shared with Umbria. Here, tradition and geography intersect, shaping the character of the wine.
The soil, predominantly volcanic, is part of the larger volcanic complex of the Vulsini mountains and Lake Bolsena. But there’s more to the story: alluvial material from historic Tiber River floods also contributes to the terroir. The grape variety at the heart of this wine is 100% Grechetto (specifically, the Grechetto di Orvieto clone G109). The grapes come from the estate’s three oldest vineyards, planted between 1970 and 1980, and are carefully hand-harvested in the first half of September. After gentle vinification in steel and barriques, the wine ages patiently—first for 9 months in oak, followed by 8 months in steel with fine lees. Finally, it rests in bottles for an additional 12 months, allowing its flavors to harmonize and evolve.
