***CASE10 SELECTION***

Notes: The vineyard, owned by the Martinelli family, is meticulously planted on a northeast-facing slope, just south of their winery on Woolsey Road. The vines, spaced one meter by two meters, are grafted onto 420A rootstock, known for its low vigor. The vineyard is planted with Old Wente cuttings, sourced from the Hyde Vineyard, providing a cool site ideal for Chardonnay. The soil is a unique blend of Huichica clay-loam over clay, contributing to the distinct terroir. The vineyard practices include pressing whole clusters for phenolic delicacy and conducting native yeast and full native malolactic fermentations in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. After aging for 20 months in 20% new François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels, the Chardonnay is traditionally fined for clarity and texture and bottled without filtration. This meticulous process results in a 100% Chardonnay wine that truly expresses the unique characteristics of the vineyard.

“Coming from special vineyard sites, our Chardonnays show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. Typically, the climate is cool and the soil vigor low, producing graceful yet vibrant wines. This is our fifth bottling from this unique vineyard.” –David Ramey
