Notes: The Rochioli family vineyard, farmed by the third generation, is renowned for its exceptional Chardonnay. The vineyard is a blend of the Mid-40 and River blocks, planted with Clones 5 and 76. The soil, a Yolo sandy loam and overwash, is derived from sedimentary formation in alluvial fans, providing an ideal environment for grape cultivation. The growing season often experiences variable weather, requiring careful management of the vines. Despite these challenges, the vineyard consistently produces high-quality Chardonnay grapes. The harvested grapes undergo gentle pressing for phenolic delicacy, followed by native yeast and full native malolactic fermentation in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. After aging in François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels, the Chardonnay is traditionally fined for clarity and texture and bottled without filtration, resulting in a wine that truly reflects the unique characteristics of the Rochioli vineyard.
