NOTES: Lava Cap’s Barbera grapes are grown on one of their steepest, rockiest hillsides, with a north-west facing aspect that opens onto the vast American River canyon. This unique location provides ample afternoon sunlight and cool evening breezes from the Sierra Nevada, resulting in grapes with remarkable concentration of color and aroma. The rocky soil further enhances these qualities, producing a Barbera that showcases the grape’s signature acidity and brightness. This wine is a wonderful accompaniment to dinner or can be enjoyed on its own.
WINEMAKER NOTES: Barbera, originally from Northern Italy, thrives in the Sierra Foothills, especially in our volcanic soil at 2,700 feet. Warm days, cool nights, and rocky terrain allow us to craft a rich, elegant wine with notes of vanilla, cherry, and earth. The palate is filled with dark cherry cola, clove, and allspice, leading to a long, soft finish with light tannins
