NOTES: Domaine Leflaive's "Les Chźnes" vineyard is located in the heart of the Verzé valley and consists of two plots facing South-West. Purchased in 2003, one parcel is 3.00 hectares (7.41 acres) planted in 1973 and 2002, while the other is 0.45 hectares (1.1 acre) planted in 1935. The vines grow on shallow calcareous clay with a South-West exposure. The vineyard, made up of vines as old as 85 years, results in a slightly more complex, fuller bottling from Mācon-Village. The fruit is hand harvested, sorted, and pressed in Mācon, then decanted overnight and brought back to Puligny for both fermentation and aging at the Domaine. The wine ages for 12 months in oak (20% new) followed by 6 months in stainless steel vat before bottling. This process contributes to the wine's complexity and fullness, making it a standout choice from the Mācon-Village appellation.
