NOTES: Triennes is a 46-hectare Mediterranean estate acquired In 1989 by Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, and their Parisian friend, Michel Macaux. Located in the Var due east of Aix-en-Provence, the hillside property has been thoroughly upgraded. The vineyard is now farmed organically and was renamed “Triennes,” a reference to Triennia, the festival for Bacchus. This Rosé, a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, and Merlot, is everything you would expect from Provence and more.
The grapes, harvested at night, are cool upon arrival in the winery. They are pressed after a few hours of skin contact, and fermented at low temperature until dry in stainless steel tanks. Bottled lightly fined and filtered.
Aromatically the wine has white flowers and fresh strawberries that dance out of the glass. On the palate the wine is bright with notes of red berry fruits, lemon zest, refreshingly acidity and a touch of minerality. Not a lightweight, but simply a delicious Rosé with enough richness to enjoy with lunch or by the pool.
