NOTES: In 2021, winemaker Justin Willett led a partnership in the acquisition of Fiddlestix Vineyard — a foundational vineyard of the Sta. Rita Hills. Planted in 1998, Fiddlestix sits atop the same Miocene landslide that informs the terroir of Sanford & Benedict, immediately across Santa Rosa Road. Justin worked with Fiddlestix in his first two vintages of Tyler - 2005 and 2006 - and now proudly farms nearly 40 individual blocks across 100acres as its steward for many years to come.
Native fermented with approximately 33% whole clusters in open-top oak vats. During the first week of maceration, we employed pump overs to homogenize the fermentations. Each vat was pressed off after approximately 18 days; the new wine was settled in tank and barreled down to barrique, approximately 33% new. After 17 months, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
