NOTES: The esteemed Sugar Shack, carefully cultivated by Abreu Vineyard Management, grows on gravelly, clay-filled soils in Rutherford. The conditions are warmer with heavy sunshine so the grapes are able to reach their peak ripeness and still maintain their bright acidity. The winemaking process continues Aubert's commitment to the most minimalistic intervention.
Aromatically the Chardonnay is commanding with notes of crunchy orchard fruit and fresh pears, with hints of hay and candied citrus. On the palate, there are balancing flavors of lemon oil and pecan pie, with layers of white peaches and acidic green apples.
